Navarra, unique nature

Navarra offers huge diversity to the visitor in terms of landscape. Everyone who visits us expresses the sensation of being able to breathe pure air when they come to our land.  Water takes centre stage in Navarra. This is what makes the valleys of the Roncal, Salazar Aézcoa and Baztán rivers so green. All of them offer landscape typical of the Pyrenean foothills of landscape of immense beauty. The Forest of Irati, the Señorío de Bértiz Gardens and the Caves of Zugarramurdi are just a few examples of nature in its most pure state.

In the Zona Media (Middle Zone) of Navarra, special mention should be made of the Romanesque churches and chapels and castles of the stuff dreams are made of. It is a major wine-producing area, which is why beautiful vineyards dominant the landscape and in spring the land is covered with daisies, poppies and sunflowers, offering unparalleled colour. Estella, Olite, Tafalla and Sangüesa are worthy of a visit.  Andelos, the Roman Town of Arellano and the Wine Museum are also must-sees.

The La Ribera region offers the immense contrasting beauty of Navarra’s Las Bardenas Reales. This is a biosphere reserve and the landscape is wild, albeit green and damp.  In some spots, such as Laguna de Pitillas, birdsong provides the only backcloth.

The Ebro River takes centre stage, but also the Aragón and the Ega, which water the gardens that produce delicious vegetables, lettuce hearts from Tudela, artichokes, piquillo red peppers from Lodosa and asparagus. The vegetable gardens of Navarra form a landscape in themselves of great richness.
